Wild Blueberries Smoothie

This wild blueberries smoothie, aka purple drink,  is what you may have been missing.

Benefits:

Aside from the well known plant-based anti-inflammatory herbal supplements like curcumin and ashwagandha, Dr. Ben Johnson, Integrative Medicine, says that wild blueberries play a huge role in decreasing inflammation in the body if eaten on a regular basis.

Food Revolution network goes a little deeper by saying that blueberries may also stop heart attacks, lower blood pressure, boost vascular health, prevent cancer, protect lungs, improve insulin sensitivity, and may slow our aging brains by 2.5 years if eaten daily.

You can find these tiny round blueberry pebbles in the freezer isle of your health food store.

I use a Vitamix blender, because I love the texture of a smooth and creamy smoothie.

Ingredients:
  • 2 bananas
  • 4 dates, pitted
  • 1 small lemon, peeled
  • 3 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 12 ounces frozen wild blueberries
  • 1 thumb ginger root (optional)
  • fresh filtered water to desired consistency
Method:
  1. Blend all ingredients together until smooth (about 1.5 minutes)
  2. This recipe makes about 2-3 servings
Smoothie bowl ???
  • Add less water to the ingredients to achieve a thicker texture.
  • Decorate your smoothie bowl with granola, fruit, honey, chia seeds
  • Possibilities are endless
